I feel the need to kill myself a lot whe…
I feel the need to kill myself a lot when I have a really good life… I’m young, only 16 but I have such an empty hole in me.. Nothing can fill it.
I’m selfish… I hate myself for saying how much I want to kill myself while others have worse life..
Why do I feel this way?

I know how you feel, I think. I’m 14, there’s nothing wrong. Just. Nothing right. *hugs*

Having more than others doesn’t mean you have enough, just like having less than others doesn’t mean you don’t have enough. It’s not a matter of quantity, it’s a matter of getting it just right. Everyone’s needs are different and a hole you feel inside can likely only be filled by one certain thing. What that thing is nobody could tell you (don’t believe anyone who says they can), you’ll need to figure that out yourself.

Thanks. I know this was intended for Indie21, but this made me feel better.

I feel the same way. Whenever I feel depressed, I feel guilty and I hate myself for feeling that way. I feel like I have no right to. But I NEVER considered suicide an option. I think that’s the most selfish thing one can do to get out of a problem. I agree with Cavalary: you need to find what fills the hole and makes you happy. But to do that, you need to keep living, no matter what.

Indie21, I know how you feel. I suffered with depression and suicidal thoughts for years when I was younger. It’s been a couple of years, and I feel better, but sometimes I find myself slump back in, even if it is only brief. It sucks, and I feel selfish, too, because I know “there’s starving kids in Africa” and here I am hating my life. But Cavalary is right. Everyone has different needs, so just keep on living and you’ll discover it (whatever it may be) somewhere along the way.

Sometimes I feel that way, too… Sometimes, when stuff starts going right, I think to myself, “well, now would be a good stopping point… Guess it’s time to put a fork in me.” I guess it’s a really lame way to avoid future bad times.

It’ll go away eventually, you’re just young.
